Corona en het ontwikkelen van een nieuw concept: Italië Thuis
De laatste maanden zijn niet alleen voor ons een ware uitdaging geweest. Iedereen met een toeristische accommodatie en dan zeker in Noord-Italië kreeg een zware slag te verduren. We waren echt even lam geslagen ook omdat je niet weet welke kant het op gaat en hoe je jezelf voor moet bereiden op wel of niet openen. Wat gaat dat betekenen voor de reeds gemaakte boekingen? Vraagstukken over vouchers of terugbetalingen doemden op en maakten alles nog ingewikkelder.
Na een paar weken van bezinning in maart, kwam de ondernemersmentaliteit boven en zijn we gaan kijken wat wel mogelijk is. Er was veel waar we geen invloed op uit konden oefenen, maar wat konden we nog wel doen? Gewoon wachten tot alles weer open gaat, leek ons niet zo’n sterke strategie, dus hoe konden we onze inkomsten enigszins redden?
Nu Nederland niet naar Italië kon, bedacht ik een manier om Italië naar Nederland te halen: Italië Thuis. Een week lang genieten van La Dolce Vita middels authentieke Italiaanse producten. De echte beleving kwam van het Inspiratiepakket dat digitaal verzorgd in de mail arriveerde met Italiaanse films, muziek, documentaires, muziekspecials en verschillende thema’s. Zo bracht ik iedere dag een stukje Italië in de huiskamer.

Italië is weer open!
Met het openen van de grenzen werd een seizoen draaien in Italië ineens weer mogelijk en we besloten om vanaf 11 juli open te gaan. Een aantal van onze gasten heeft geannuleerd (begrijpelijk en iedereen moet doen wat goed voor hem of haar voelt), maar veel gasten staan nog steeds te popelen om te komen. Net zoals wij!
Met het komende vertrek naar Italië wordt het wel lastig voor me om Italië Thuis te managen. Daarom zette ik het concept om naar een nog uitgebreidere online versie waarbij je de Italiaanse producten zelf kunt bestellen via de links op de site. Zo kan Italië Thuis gewoon doorlopen terwijl wij ‘in real life’ onze gasten in Italië ontvangen.
Een nieuw concept lanceren is niet makkelijk, maar ik heb ontzettend veel plezier gehad in het samenstellen. Hoewel ik er nog niet rijk van geworden ben, waren de reacties overdonderend. Zo is er uit noodzaak een ontzettend leuk product ontstaan waar ik nog veel meer uit kan halen. En het mooie is, dat Italië Thuis online in de toekomst prima kan bestaan naast Italië bij I Muri.

Reizen naar Italië en juiste informatie in een webinar
We sluiten voor ons gevoel de Corona periode Nederland nu af en richten ons op nieuwe kansen en een nieuwe start. Het zal best even lastig zijn om te wennen aan de nieuwe spelregels in Italië. Er zijn behoorlijk wat eisen om een accommodatie te runnen deze zomer. Anderzijds zijn we er ook van overtuigd, dat we snel zullen wennen aan het mondkapje en de 1 meter samenleving, zoals dat in Italië geregeld is. Uiteraard gaan we voor optimale veiligheid voor onze gasten en medewerkers. Er is extra alcohol ingekocht (nee, deze keer niet in wijnflessen!) en de werkwijze is duidelijk. Daarnaast communiceren we veelvuldig en duidelijk met onze gasten, zowel telefonisch als via de mail. Ik informeer zelfs Italië-gangers die niet bij ons, maar elders in Italië te gast zijn.
De afgelopen periode heb ik verschillende gratis webinars gehouden voor geïnteresseerden wat ontzettend goed ontvangen werd. Ik vind het namelijk belangrijk om eerlijke en juiste informatie door te geven. Met name om mensen die graag naar Italië willen komen gerust te stellen en een duidelijk beeld te geven. Daarnaast ook om onze mooie regio en Italië in het algemeen te mogen promoten, want laten we eerlijk zijn … La Bella Italia is te leuk om dit jaar links te laten liggen.
De komende zomer zal anders zijn dan voorgaande jaren. Ik denk echter, dat de door Italiaanse overheid opgelegde maatregelen met een maatlepeltje Hollandse nuchterheid prima te vertalen zijn naar een relaxte sfeer op ons vakantiepark. Zeker in de accommodaties op het ‘platteland’ is het veilig om te verblijven en ik geloof persoonlijk, dat er in de buitenlucht weinig aan de hand is. Het zal best een beetje spannend zijn voor zowel onze gasten als voor ons accommodatie houders. Er zijn nog veel vragen niet beantwoord. Wat te doen bijvoorbeeld mocht iemand toch ziek worden op je park? Waar is quarantaineopvang geregeld? Ik weet niet hoe het bij jou zit, maar ik word met die vragen van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd. Maar hé, ook dat is ondernemen in Italië. Die chaotische en onduidelijke regelgeving die we verafschuwen, maar waar we tegelijkertijd ook zo van houden. Wij wel tenminste. In Italië is het beste antwoord dat je kan krijgen ‘bo’. Dat betekent dat alles nog mogelijk is.

Geniet van Italië!
Ik wens iedereen een mooie zomer en een goed resterend seizoen toe. Ook aan deze crisis komt weer een einde en ik ben blij, dat het toerisme weer een kans krijgt. En als ik je dan nog iets mee mag geven…
Buiten het harde werken dat je doet, de frustratie die af en toe misschien de overhand neemt en de niet altijd even begripvolle gasten … leef La Dolce Vita elke dag en doe dat bewust. Er is zoveel om tussen al deze misère dankbaar voor te zijn. Jij zit toch maar, net als wij, mooi met je gat als Dio in Bella Italia.
