BnB STORIES | Deel 1 | B&B Termas Da Azenha (Portugal)
Vanuit BnB Promotions zetten we ons niet alleen in voor het ondersteunen van accommodaties in het aantrekken van gasten. Ook vinden wij het delen van kennis en verhalen belangrijk als inspiratie. Vanuit die benadering introduceren wij BnB Stories: een rubriek waar we de Bed and Breakfast eigenaren aan het woord laten. Vakantie accommodaties met een bijzonder business model, een verhaal of ervaring die zij graag met de wereld willen delen.
In deze eerste editie van BnB Stories geven we graag het woord aan Ellen Lanser, de bijzonder sympathieke eigenaresse van B&B Termas Da Azenha in Portugal. In de presentatie van de accommodatie en de service die zij haar gasten biedt, speelt haar passie voor mozaïek een bijzondere rol. Ellen vertelt hier in het kort over, en ook over hoe zij de Corona periode doorstaat.

Termas-Da-Azenha is al sinds honderden jaren een publieke attractie vanwege het geneeskrachtige bronwater. Het is altijd een kuuroord geweest, maar toen de vorige eigenaar overleed, is het in het slop geraakt. Daar hebben wij het weer uit getrokken, en sindsdien wonen en werken we hier naar volle tevredenheid. Broes regeert over de moestuin en de keuken (en maakt de lekkerste dingen), ikzelf kan al mijn creativiteit kwijt in het maken van (enorme) mozaïeken, het schrijven van onderhoudende blogjes en tegenwoordig ook in het ontwerpen van kimono’s en badjassen, die door een Portugese coupeuse worden genaaid. We zijn hierin de eerste en enige B&B&B ter wereld, ha ha: Bed & Breakfast & Bathrobes.

Wij merken hier in de buitengebieden niet zoveel van de C-risis, behalve natuurlijk dat het komen en gaan van gasten een stuk minder is. Als je naar de supermarkt gaat, dan merk je er wel meer van. Ik vind het eerlijk gezegd niet zo heel erg, we redden het wel tot 2021.
Ik vermoed dat wij het ten opzichte van andere accommodatie eigenaren dan ook nog niet zo bar hebben, met 3 huizen en 1 kamer bezet, en een Portugees stel dat elk weekend komt uitrusten van het vermoeiende leven in de stad … Maar de kalender voor de zomer ziet er maagdelijk uit. Misschien komt dat nog. De Portugezen beginnen nu weer te bellen, of we plek hebben. Dat zijn nachtjes, hooguit twee. Maar goed, het komt weer op gang, en dat is een goed teken.

Als het niet te warm is, kan ik door met mijn mozaïek projecten. Dat is altijd al een normale gang van zaken geweest, en ook de reden dat er een boel mensen hier boeken. In elk hoekje is iets te zien, en het is de bedoeling, dat het uiteindelijk een mozaïek-dorp wordt!
Maar die kimono’s zijn ook erg leuk! Veel werk, want kimono’s naaien is 1 ding, maar je moet ze ook nog verkopen. Dat deed ik erbij – bij de B&B bedoel ik, voor de C-risis, maar dat is nu over natuurlijk. Een webshop beginnen en de marketing is best veel werk, dus we verdienen er wel wat mee, maar het is niet zo dat het de inkomsten van de B&B vervangt.
We zijn op het moment bezig met een subdomein om een webshop te beginnen, hopelijk is die over een paar weken klaar. Er zijn al een stuk of 30 jassen klaar, een heleboel verschillende. Je kunt je jas op maat laten maken, helemaal naar je eigen wensen. Het voordeel van de rust in deze tijd is dat ik nu alle aandacht kan geven aan dit nieuwe project, dat me enorm veel positieve energie geeft.
